Bern has 30 years of diversified financial and operational experience in high technology companies in both software development and hardware manufacturing environments, with focus on the consumer, subcontract and OEM market sectors.

Over his career he has installed and directed planning and measurement and reporting processes for multiple companies, including leading the selections of and implementation processes for enterprise information and MRP/inventory systems. He has participated in numerous M&A transactions, including leading the strategic development efforts that resulted in eight successful transactions valued at over $800 million. Additionally, he has raised over $650 million of capital from initial public, follow-on and debt offerings. Bern has led the positioning and disclosure-focused investor communications programs and acted as principal Wall Street interface for multiple companies.

Prior to joining FLG, Bern served as Chief Financial Officer or in other senior financial management roles for four fast-growth global technology companies ranging in size from $300 million to over $2 billion of annual revenues, including Handspring, Inc. (where he led the IPO), Sanmina Corp. (NASDAQ: SANMD), Network General Corp., and Connor Peripherals, Inc. He has served on public company, private entity, and non-profit boards, including Plumtree Software , CA State University Business School, Hospice of Valley, and ServiceSpace. He presently serves as the Audit Committee Chair of the board of directors at Digimarc Corporation (NASDAQ: DMRC), a digital rights management company.
